MAINLAND Britain’s most remote pub, based in the Highlands, has been shortlisted as ‘pub of the year’ in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2018.
VisitScotland is now encouraging people to vote for The Old Forge, at Knoydart, which is up against The Fox House in Longshaw, South Yorkshire; The Rugglestone Inn at Widecombe in the Moor, Devon; The Lock Keeper in Keynsham, Somerset; and Square and Compass at Worth Matravers, Dorset, for the coveted awards in a public vote which began on January 19 and runs until March 5.
The Old Forge is described in the awards as: ‘Only accessible by ferry or foot, the most remote pub in Britain was once an old smiddy’s forge but today offers bonny food, drink, music and accommodation.’
