It is estimated that for every £1 spent on the ski slopes of Nevis Range and Glencoe, a further £4 is spent in the local area. The same holds true for the slopes at Glenshee, Cairngorm and the Lecht, according to the latest estimates just released, with Scottish snow sports boosting the national economy by almost £31 million.
Additionally, negative projections made in 2011 on likely Scottish skiing and snowboard trends have failed to materialise – with additional investment in Scotland’s five ski centres considered a key factor in maintaining visitor numbers.
These new figures from VisitScotland apply figures of ‘skier days’ for the 2017/18 season to existing methodology showing a £30,892,375 benefit to Scotland’s economy.
