DUNCAN MACINTYRE, a former councillor and justice of the peace, died on Tuesday afternoon after a year-long illness, aged 72.
The influential politician was an elected member, transport spokesman and area chairman for Oban, Lorn and the Isles. He represented Argyll and Bute on many issues across the UK.
Mr MacIntyre was a devout Roman Catholic and communicant in the Cathedral community. He was a member of many charities, clubs and groups, caring greatly about the people and town of Oban and wider Argyll.
