New York is somewhat of a second and spiritual home to us. We’ve been lucky enough to visit frequently and each time, we grow to love it even more and discover new parts of it; and get acquainted with its fascinating and eccentric personalities. NYC is impossible to sum up in words, no matter how hard I try. But what I can tell you is that it has an undeniable, mercurial power. A force so strong, which since its inception – who knows, possibly even before – has drawn free spirits and storytellers like us to it. And it will, without a doubt, surprise, delight and educate all visitors – as well as make you feel brand new and inspire you (big lights and all). The city’s tourism marketing organisation describes NYC as ‘monumental’; and we’d wholeheartedly agree. We’re thrilled to partner with NYC & Company; to put together this very special edition of OutThere.

Beyond NYC, we take other monumental journeys to lesser-travelled lands. OutThere’s team of adventurers – Zack Cahill and David Edwards – cure their itchy feet from their last assignment together, bareface climbing in Krabi, to take on frozen Laugavegur in Iceland. The cold weather doesn’t stop our other explorers either: John Gregory-Smith heads to Finland in search of the Northern Lights and Rupert Mellor checks out the luxuries of St Moritz, Switzerland. I, on a different high altogether, head to the Colorado Rockies to discover Denver. In our Basecamp section, we go to Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore, Peru and Thailand to check out the very best high-end hotels, resorts and cruises.

OutThere is a multi-award-winning luxury travel and experiential travel journal for what is a large, global audience of travellers who identify with our core values of diversity, discovery and discernment. We aim to be the leading voice of inclusivity in luxury and experiential travel, telling stories with an intersectional and inclusive lens, from the perspective of passionate and diverse storytellers (Experientialist®s) who represent the travellers who seek a heightened level of personalisation and belonging when they head out into the world: simply because of who they are, how they identify, who they’re travelling with and who they love. We also share the stories and vision of minorities in the travel space, who are creating unique adventures that celebrate and bring to life the history and richness of the communities that they are part of.

We celebrate the many fascinating expressions of global travel, from amazing destinations to luxurious hotels and resorts to unique, one-of-a-kind experiences. Moreover, we look at journeys that extend beyond the act of travelling itself – featuring Arts, fashion, design, style and the people behind them – interspersed with strong personal stories, great photography, industry voices, inside tracks and in-depth features – that will inspire your next journey.
