Pain Matters  |  81
The person-centred approach to managing long-term
pain has been endorsed by many previous guest
editors of Pain Matters. Understanding the impact that
trauma and adverse experiences can have on your own
perception of pain is vital when trying to manage long-term pain. We are thrilled that the team from the Royal
Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust have guest-edited
this issue of Pain Matters. They are a trauma-informed
clinic who prioritise making their patients feel safe and
empowered; these are priorities the Pain Concern team
shares. So, in this issue the Berkshire pain team explores
some of the various different techniques you can try out
to help manage pain and improve your quality of life.
