FORAGING FOR MUSHROOMS
For this issue I’ve taken the bold decision to briefly discuss fungi. There’s something magical about this time of year and about mushrooms in general. Although totally different in other areas of the world, fungi in the UK is typically left solely to the specialists and it’s believed that anyone who isn’t a specialist should strictly not pick them to eat – and in some cases not even touch them. I think this idea should start to change, so I’m going to start us with a mushroom, and mushroom family, I believe we can be safe eating from the wild. However a good fungi guide is always essential when out foraging and don’t ever eat anything you’re not 100 per cent certain on the identification of – this article should only be used as one of many guides.
