EATM maintenance progress WORK has been taking place to run a main cable into the new tram depot at the East Anglia Transport Museum at Carlton Colville. Elsewhere on the Suffolk site, track maintenance and repairs were carried out during February. MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) testing was conducted to check for cracks on point blades and welding took place to build up some areas which had become worn.
Shipley Glen goes ‘cashless’ THE Shipley Glen Tramway at Baildon in WestYorkshire has announced that, apart from in exceptional circumstances, it is only accepting card payments from visitors. In cases where it does agree to accept cash, it will no longer be able to offer change. It says the closure of its local bank made it difficult to continue to deal with cash. February also saw tree surgeons on-site to clear dead and dangerous trees which were close to the track.
