meet Emily Keates

Pig rescuer, sanctuary owner and vegan jewellery maker Emily tells us of her vegan journey

What inspired you to become vegan?

I went pescatarian first when I was 18, simply because I couldn’t aff ord ‘nice’ meat (this makes me cringe now!) and pescatarian food was cheaper and tastier. It wasn’t until I was 21 that I became vegan after stumbling across the video If Slaughter Houses Had Glass Walls by PETA on YouTube. I watched just 7 minutes of it and turned it off, angry, shaking and in tears. I made the decision to go vegan and have never looked back.
