Suzuki has been through the ringer lately – a2009 partnership with VW started off promisingly, the German firm taking a 20 per cent stake. It was to end in acrimony a mere two years later though, as Suzuki entertained fears it was being taken over by stealth. It took a visit to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague for the deal to be fully dissolved in 2015, and Suzuki jumped in with Toyota in 2019. A positive end to a bad decade that saw the firm withdraw from the US in 2012 due to poor sales.
