Toy Soldier & Model Figure  |  Issue 209
Welcome to the October 2015 issue of TS&MF, the world's No. 1 magazine for collectors of all stripes! Jeff Duncan, a Canadian collector with a great sense of humor, kicks off this month's festivities by demonstrating he's no fool when it comes to collecting idiots. Specifically, one of Jeff's specialties is collecting old Britains Village Idiot conversions created by the late Bill Brunton.
When readers are done chuckling at Jeff's article, they're in for another treat from American Thor Johnson, who has been the driving force behind The AeroArt St. Petersburg Collection since founding the business in 1992. He focuses on how his range breathes life into ancient Roman emperors with fabulous figures handcrafted in Russia.
Stephen Dance, president and archivist of the British Model Soldier Society, puts a hobby-related spin on his recent trip to Japan. He describes a large diorama in the Osaka Castle Museum featuring around 300 figures re-creating furious fighting in Osaka during the Summer War of 1615. Stephen shares a fascinating look at the museum and the mysterious world of the ninja.
The Toy Soldier Museum's James H. Hillestad has recruited figures from his vast collection to illustrate a homage to London's iconic Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioners. Jim outlines the British history behind them.
As usual, there's lots more in store in this edition, so please start turning the pages, enjoy and, as always, happy collecting!
