I first heard about Cancer is a Drag from one of the group’s performers, Dan Wright, whilst on a night out with my local LGBT group. We were chatting about volunteering, so when Dan told me about the act, I found it very intriguing and wanted to find out more.

The charity was originally set up by founder, Alan Bugg, in 2012 with the help of Macmillan Cancer Support. Alan was diagnosed in September 2010 with Grade 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and after many cycles of chemotherapy, he found himself unable to work and struggling to pay the bills.
