Sometimes, it would seem as though they are from another world. Fish don’t look like us, don’t act like us, and certainly don’t sound like us. Since, to us, they appear devoid of expression, people often assume they are incapable of feeling.
Indeed, despite science to the contrary, many still claim that fish can’t feel pain. Their brains are wired in such a way that some argue they simply can’t be sentient. For them, they are vegetables of the sea, at our disposal to be exploited at leisure.
