Alan Wilson, Cliff Cooper and Cherry Red chairman Iain McNay with the Joe Meek ‘Tea Chest’ tapes
Joe Meek’s mythical ‘Tea Chest Tapes’, containing almost 2,000 reels, will see the light of day thanks to a new deal by Cherry Red Records.
The fabled tapes got their name as they were stored in 67 tea chests. Following Meek’s death in 1967, they passed on to Cliff Cooper, who worked with the producer when playing bass with The Millionaires and went on to found Orange Amplification.
