Woodturning  |  Issue 350
Issue 350 of Woodturning magazine is dedicated to our former editor Mark Baker who recently passed away. We begin this issue by looking back with fond memories over Mark’s life and time at GMC Publications and celebrate his contributions to the woodturning community.
We also have a packed Projects section for you to enjoy. Chris West updates a piece of treen for the 21st century with his Brighton bun; Andrew Potocnik makes a decorative celery top pine bowl; and Steve Bisco turns a solid oak chairside table. And to get you into the festive spirit, Les Symonds uses reclaimed timber to make a pair of LED-illuminated Christmas trees and Colwin Way makes a three-tier Christmas carousel.
In our Techniques section, Marty Kaminsky discusses setting up a sharpening system; Andy Coates makes another object for everyday use – but with a twist; Brian Horais shows how to turn unusual twisted and spiral vases; Stewart Furini continues his tour of the world of colour theory with a look at stains, dyes, waxes, inks and paints; Richard Findley is challenged to make a traditional Japanese toy; and Emiliano Achaval recommends a fast, easy and durable finish.
In Features, Pete Moncrieff-Jury researches the history of woodturning tools.
Plus we have the latest news from the woodturning community and a sneak peek of our next issue.
