Like Sue Cawte (WM, Dec, page 6), I enjoy a variety of different types of writing.
Last year, I went part-time at work to spend more time writing. I write for half an hour every morning before work, but on Tuesdays I devote most of the day to writing. My main focus is short stories, and that’s what I tend to write in my sessions before work. However, on Tuesdays I split the day into four writing sessions. One is for short stories (or nonfiction), one for working through writing course books, one for working on a novel I’m writing, and the other is flexible – Imight choose to spend more time on the novel, if I’m on a roll, or I might go back to short story writing. Occasionally I’ll see a non-fiction opportunity that appeals to me, and I’ll then work on that rather than short stories.
