RACING LINES

After much back and forth, Cadillac will join F1, led by Brit Graeme Lowdon
It’s official, then: Cadillac will line up next year as Formula 1’s 11th team. The American luxury car brand has hit all the criteria to be admitted to motor racing’s most exclusive club, after its first approach as a partner in Andretti Global’s attempted entry was rejected.
Finally, the right outcome, thanks largely to a bigger commitment from parent company General Motors for Cadillac to become much more than a badge on the side of a racing car. The pledge is that between now and the end of the decade this will become a “full works” team powered by a genuine GM powertrain.
For the time being, we can expect to see a Ferrari-powered Caddy on the grid. How’s that for an automotive oxymoron?
