Cassidy added another famous name to the list of ePrix-winning teams
At just the second time of asking, Citroën has become a race winner in Formula E. The chevrons of the Stellantis-owned French brand now adorn the cars that wore Maserati tridents last year, and at the Mexico City ePrix New Zealander Nick Cassidy delivered a clever victory, coming from 13th on the grid via well-timed usage of his Attack Mode power boost.
It was Cassidy’s 12th victory in Formula E, leaving him just two short of the series record, held jointly by Sébastien Buemi and Mitch Evans. This is the 31-year-old’s sixth season in the electric single-seater series, and somehow he has yet to land the title, having finished runner-up twice. He’s rated highly among his peers and, having switched from Jaguar, could well land Citroën a Formula E crown to add to its past glories in the World Rally Championship and now-defunct World Touring Car Championship.
