MY WEEK IN CARS
Steve Cropley
Cropley has fallen for this era of 911 – and not for the first time
SUNDAY
I trooped off to the year’s first Bicester Scramble with the rest of the sell-out crowd, to enjoy (among other highlights) a huge display of TWR road and racing cars, gathered to commemorate 50 years of Tom Walkinshaw Racing. The display was happily shielded from prevailing horrible weather by Hangar 113. Everything was there, from an early, ear-splitting race-tuned Mazda RX-7 to the TWR-Jaguar XJR-9, the marque’s first Le Mans winner since the D-Type. Naturally the two qualities that underpin every Bicester event – amazing automotive variety and attendees’ sheer joy of car ownership – were there in spades.
