VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG 5.0 V10 TDI ALTITUDE
WHAT WE ALMOST BOUGHT THIS WEEK
We all know the Touareg as a family SUV, but stick a diesel V10 under the bonnet and it becomes quite a different beast. This 2008-reg example comes in Altitude specification, with domineering roof spoiler, bespoke bumpers and side skirts, as well as dual exhausts, 19in wheels and impressive interior tech, all for £8290.
Pick-ups have become big business. I must say I’m rather taken by the recent Suzuki Yomper conversion that’s being offered, whereby an old-model Jimny gets an open-plan extension to make it more rural. That’s the best reason for having one: a pick-up bed is the ideal place to transport smelly farm animals and building rubble.
