CUPRA FORMENTOR
Cupra chases younger drivers with updated performance-focused family crossover
Car makers are increasingly trying to tempt younger buyers with left-field family cars. Forget traditional boxy SUVs: we now have everything from the Volvo EX30 to the Toyota C-HR – and not forgetting the Cupra Formentor, which has just been revised.
Because Cupra certainly has an interest in this type of customer, judging by how much it talks about video games and being “futurefacing”. To a point, the cars do live up to the spiel. They are all available with powerful engines and feature sharp, angular designs punctuated by a signature bronze trim.
The Formentor set the Spanish brand on this path in 2020, being its first model that wasn’t based on a Seat and a very strong seller: more than 120,000 were delivered worldwide last year.
Now it has received updates to its exterior design, engine line-up and interior, all of which is meant to keep it fresh in the eyes of drivers, especially younger ones.
