Although the Labour Party hasn’t put quite as much emphasis on it as the Conservatives, motoring remains one of its key areas for kick-starting the country’s economic growth. Avital part of this, says leader Sir Keir Starmer, is to reintroduce the 2030 ban on the sale of new pure petrol and diesel cars, bringing back “certainty” for car makers. As before, hybrids will remain permissible until 2035.
