A DECADE OF PEACE
Great road test report on the new Toyota Land Cruiser (21 May), but while acknowledging the renowned reliability, you failed to mention that it’s backed up by a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty that needs an annual service at a dealer to maintain. Given the complexity and cost of the vehicle, you’re hardly going to deviate from a main dealer history anyway.
So yes, the Land Rover Defender is superb, but for a keeper, with added peace of mind, the Land Cruiser is very tempting.
Oh, and it’s got lots of buttons, and that needs a round of applause.

WOULD YOU RISK IT?
I couldn’t believe Rachel Burgess’s comment in her 14 May leader that “the core appeal of JLR models over the years has been the British flavour of their engineering”.
JLR products have one of the worst records for reliability and engineering. How many times do we hear stories about how its cars break down, incur high repair costs and have a long customer backlogs and waiting list for parts? Not to mention eye-watering depreciation!
