To me this month’s Big Carp is the ‘definitive issue’ of what the magazine is all about. With a 22-year history, of course we’ve had our ups and downs. There have been months where some of the articles are much better than others, and yes, some months have been better than others – I’m the first to admit it! But this month it’s all top notch, no gaps, 100 percent proper keepin’ it real, English thoroughbreds throughout – a subtle combination of hardcore ‘off the beaten track’ explorers combined with an all-star lineup of thinking anglers for the more technical side.
Let me elaborate… Firstly the edgy stuff with Craig Runham pioneering a 400-acre southern pit never before published, with spectacular results and Mark Twaite alias ‘The Traveller’ begins a new series ‘Tales from the Water’s Edge’ as he pioneers a 180-acre water park where he has already caught thirty and forty pounders never before seen in print, as he puts together the jigsaw month by month in Big Carp towards his goal – a never before caught fifty pounder! To me these two articles are worth the cover price alone… This is what carp fishing is all about. Also next month Mike Scott is back with loads more uncaught monsters from his guesting trips on several lakes in the south, never before fished.
