How to freeze-frame a situation and find a new way to have a good time
‘When you’re chewing on life’s gristle, don’t grumble, give a whistle, and this’ll help things turn out for the best, and... always look on the bright side of life’

Bus missed. Bag stolen. Luggage lost. When faced with something completely out of your control, have you ever found yourself in shock laughter at how you ended up there? Having worked in the travel industry for the best part of a decade, it’s a feeling I’ve come to know well. So much so, that I’ve come to appreciate, even revel in it. When you’re on the road, things can – and do – go wrong all the time. Over the years I’ve turned these misadventures into a wider philosophy on life, one to help me get through stressful situations and come out smiling or, at the very least, no worse off than before. I call it the ‘having-a-nice-time’ philosophy or in other words, embracing the power of freeze-framing and easy wins.
