Estuary Sands, Hayle Estuary, Cornwall, England
I spend many hours along this stretch of beach, where the Hayle Estuary meets the sea, as I’m intrigued by the everchanging sandbanks and patterns at low tide. On this cold winter’s day, I stood for a long time, watching as the incoming tide slowly reclaimed areas of sand, transforming the view in front of me when whole chunks of sand would collapse into the water. I used a neutral density filter to make a slightly longer exposure, creating a more minimal scene, and a graduated filter to bring out detail in the clouds.
