When Paul and Pat Lucas discovered this tranquil wooded site in Kent, they knew they had to buy it. Having taken on numerous DIY projects in the past, they were confident they could take on the challenge of running a self build scheme. The couple weighed up a range of options for the structural system, including brick and block, SIPs (structural insulated panels) and even steel framing. However, the design flexibility and high levels of insulation afforded by a timber frame build eventually led them to Scandia-Hus.
