This image, above, is one of the pieces featured in LEAD, an ongoing exhibition of the photographs of Alejandro Guijarro at the London gallery Tristan Hoare.
Each image in the series by the London-based Spanish artist shows an Old Master painting from The Prado Museum, The Louvre or the National Gallery in London scanned under X-ray or ultraviolet light.
The blend of painterly representation and mechanical abstraction gives the composition of each photograph a strange, uncanny feel. Each work is reproduced to scale. This photograph is 49757 (St Gregory The Great), which is available at the exhibition for £5000.
