HOW WE’LL KEEP USING WINDOWS 10
We love Windows 11, but there are plenty of reasons why we also want to keep running its predecessor. Three Computeractive writers explain how they’ll do so, while one Linux convert jumps ship!

Why I’ve chosen free support by syncing with OneDrive
My ageing Windows 10 laptop has something modern machines rarely offer: a built-in DVD drive. I have loads of films and home movies on DVD and I don’t want to lose the ability to play these or rip them to a hard drive at some point. The drive also works as a DVD burner, so I can create my own discs. This is something I do less these days, admittedly, but I’d hate to lose the option when needed.
I realise I could just buy an external DVD drive and plug it into a shiny new Windows 11 laptop, but I don’t like to spend money where I don’t have to – and I love the neatness of having the DVD function built into the computer itself, rather than dangling from a USB port. Plus, because it’s a laptop I can always take it with me and play DVDs when I’m away from home – on holiday or at my parent’s house, for example.
