GOSPEL OF A GAY FOLK HERO

›› The space where sprituality, sexuality and culture collide is fertile ground for novelist Mark Frew. In his latest, A Right To Love, a familiar character returns, and, could he find love against the odds?

DNA: What was the inspiration behind your latest novel, A Right To Love?

Mark Frew: We need a gay folk hero. Not only for gay people but for everyone. We also need a gay folk hero who is not a stereotypical gay guy, but someone who participates in promoting the well-being of the community. It was also an opportunity to have a love story between two men and make it clear this is not a simple affair but that it requires work and compromise. I also wanted to show there is a way for everyone to live harmoniously because there is only one habitable planet that we know of and we all have to share it!
