INTHE GREENHOUSE

WITH JOYCE RUSSELL

SOW & PLANT IN EARLY NOVERBER

If temperatures aren’t below 6C (43F):

■ There’s still time to sow hardy peas and broad beans to give some early spring crops.

■ Choose winter varieties of lettuce to start in trays or pots. ‘All Year Round’, ‘Veneziana’ and ‘Winter Density’ are reliable performers or try ‘Elyburg’ as a crisp iceberg/cos cross.

■ Sow mustard, rocket, mizuna: these will grow slowly and flourish next spring.
