The Making Of Five Leaves Left
ISLAND. CD/LP
HIGH SUMMER 1969 was a crux time for Nick Drake. On June 13 he sat his second year exams at Fitzwilliam College, leaving a few days later when term ended: his last full engagement with Cambridge University. On June 19, he turned 21: still the definition of adulthood in the UK then. In early July, his first album was released: now regarded as an almost uncanny, elemental mood piece, Five Leaves Left was the product of 15 or so months of sessions. Hopes were high.
