OUR story about an increase in fly-tipping, especially in the Dunbeg area, touched a nerve with readers.

Carol Needham complained: ‘I don’t normally comment on things like this and would never condone fly tipping but with 3 weekly bin uplifts and charges for everything else then do you blame them?.

‘I have a family of 6 my eldest child being an adult and I burn all paper ect in the fire, recycle what I can, and I avoid products that have lots of packing and generally I have way more rubbish than fills 2 green bins, but I get there, I can see a rise in flytipping spoiling beautiful Oban in the years to come by these ridiculous 3 week collections, council think they are encouraging people to tip less they are actually encouraging the opposite and although I would never condone or do it myself I cannot blame those who do.’
