The climber who died following a fall on Ben Nevis at the weekend has been named as Patrick Boothroyd, 21, from West Yorkshire. He was recovered from Tower Gully on Ben Nevis by the HM Coastguard helicopter after the incident was reported at 2.25pm on Sunday.
He was taken to the Belford Hospital, Fort William, where he died of his injuries.
A second male climber was also rescued and taken to Belford Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. Police Scotland Sergeant Michael Bell said: ‘Our thoughts are with the man’s friends and family at this sad time.
