Thought for the week

New beginnings

I’ve always liked September. Others may disagree as the nights are drawing in and winter is just around the corner. But I love the misty mornings, dew-spangled cobwebs and harvest time.

For me, it’s a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. I always looked forward to the start of a new school year. New notebooks, freshly sharpened pencils, the determination to work harder and do better. (The only thing I really remember from school reports is the maths teacher writing: ‘I feel she could do better. I wish she would!’)
