HORSLIPS
More Than You Can Chew MADFISH
Gargantuan set chronicling pretty much everything they ever did.
Often cited as the founding fathers of celtic rock, Dublin’s Horslips had talent to burn. Three of their five members were multi-instrumentalists who could turn their hands to just about anything, and they were astute enough to found their own record label, Oats. Those who caught their 1974 The Old Grey Whistle Test performance of Dearg Doom witnessed something brilliantly bonkers. Uberhirsute joint frontman Charles O’Connor had one hand painted silver in homage to mythological Irish king Nuada Airgetlám, while the band’s dazzling leads across electric guitar, electric mandolin and uilleann pipes conjured The Chieftans turned up to 11.
