Ten years after vividly colourful Bergen jazz prog quintet Knekklectric formed, obvious comparisons to Gentle Giant and Steely Dan still ring true, yet they don’t tell the full story of a band that ultimately feel of their own world. Perhaps the fact that it’s hard for non-Norwegian speakers to fathom their native-tongue lyrics lends an even greater appreciation of the delicate blend of the atmospheres and emotions at play, but there is also something about their sound that’s hypnotic.
