China isn’t the best place to be in a band right now.
“Covid cases here have been rising again,” says Anthony Vanacore, the founding drummer and lead writer for Beijing prog metal outfit, OU. “And the way China’s dealing with it is basically the way they dealt with it at the beginning – with lockdowns and restrictions. A lot of musicians have been struggling here. You can plan all kinds of performances and then, on a dime, they could all be cancelled.”
