A THIRD open access operator after Hull Trains and Grand Central began running services on the East Coast Main Line from October 25, as FirstGroup subsidiary Lumo launched its public services between King’s Cross and Edinburgh.
Initially there were two workings each way (departing King’s Cross at 10.45 and 14.36, and Edinburgh at 09.11 and 16.12), although a third will be added in December and the ultimate goal is to have five.
Intermediate calls are made at Stevenage, Newcastle and Morpeth – the northbound services using the normally freight-only York avoiding line.
