THE first visiting locomotive has been announced for the Severn Valley Railway’s May 13-16 Spring Diesel Festival, this being ScotRail-liveried Class 37 No. 37409 Loch Awe from Locomotive Services Ltd at Crewe.
The SVR gala will feature up to 10 guest locos plus home-based engines. Managing director Gus Dunster said:“We are really hoping for a Class 70 to join us this year because we have never hosted one on the SVR before”.
Freightliner’s Class 47 No. 47830 (D1645) Beeching’s Legacy has been confirmed as the first visiting locomotive for the East Lancashire Railway’s June 27-29 Summer Diesel Festival. The locomotive will join other guest locos to be announced plus locos and units from the home fleet. The first guest announced for the West Somerset Railway’s June 6-8 Summer Diesel Festival is Class 50 No. 50033 Glorious courtesy of the Class 50 Alliance. The loco is planned to return to service at the SVR Spring Diesel Festival following several years of work in the diesel depot at Kidderminster, including a full cab rebuild.
