The Waterford &Suir Valley Railway (WSVR) has launched an appeal to raise €250,000 to return Black Hawthornbuilt 0-4-0ST No. 859 Kettering Furnaces No. 3 to working order. The loco was formerly part of the National Trust collection at Penrhyn Castle Museum, where it has been displayed after entering preservation. Last used in 1962, it has been donated to the WSVR and is seen waiting to be moved for assessment and overhaul in the North of England for use on the 10km-long 3ft gauge line between Killmeaden and Waterford, which is built on the former Waterford to Ballynacourty line closed in 1982.
