Issue Cover

Railways of Britain  |  The BR Chronicle History 9

Covering the years 1988 to 1992, our penultimate look at BR’s near 50 history is here. Amongst the many aspects of this period we look at, Railfreight launches its new identity, Provincial becomes Regional Railways and Parcel’s rebrands as Rail express systems. Newspaper traffic ends, Speedlink is disbanded and the new Class 60 and Class 158 DMUs take to the rails. Finally, BR completes its sectorisation process with its Organising for Quality initiative.
