The opening shot for the 2024 season has been fired, at least in relation to kit, as the British Shooting Show hosted the camo and tweed clad masses of the UK shooting scene to the first big show of the year.
Attendance was as strong as ever but the feedback from the trade seemed to reflect that the ever-spiralling cost of living is impacting the shooting scene.
Having said that, shooting tech is still a very strong sector with thermal now dominating sales, a factor which no doubt also plays its part in changing sales patterns as guns lessen their spend on traditional big-ticket items to accommodate their need for a more rounded rig incorporating the latest tech.
In this issue we have lots of said tech, including the new ICU networked trail cams, a detailed review of the superb Benelli Lupo plus a first field test of the Sauer 505.
Foxing is high on the agenda while long-range precision, stalking and a guide to driven hunting all come under the spotlight.
