Stamp Magazine Mar-20 Back Issue

English
38 Reviews   •  English   •   Hobbies & Crafts (Collecting)
"In the March issue of Stamp Magazine, we look back nostalgically at 1970, which was the end of an era in Great Britain as the last pre-decimal stamps were issued and the Post Office was undergoing radical change.

We investigate the philately of Tokelau, a tiny economy but one which has long been very reliant on its postal services, and we find out why the last stamp of the Hawaiian monarchy was also the world’s first on the theme of butterflies and moths.

Our Commonwealth Classics feature shows how the 1899 high values of Ceylon stood out from the rest of its late-Victorian issues, while our Great Engravers slot celebrates Albert Decaris, one the greatest and most prolific designers of French and French colonial stamps. Our other regular feature, Black Magic, focuses on a rare example of a Penny Black cover which was turned inside-out and reused.

In our news pages, you’ll find full details of Royal Mail’s latest special issue, Visions of the Universe, and other interesting new stamps from around the world, as well as highlights from the auction rooms. Our columnists and readers contribute their opinions on the big topics of the day."
