The Artist

February 2025 Packed full of inspiring features and information from practising professional artists to help you take your work to the next level. Learn from Charles Williams, president of the Royal Watercolour Society, who describes a typical day in his busy working life; Rodney Kingston as he begins his first year as a full-time artist; and Sarah Edmonds who continues her series of articles on artists from the past with a look at Rembrandt’s portrait and the palette that he used to achieve his magical paintings. There’s plenty of practical features too, including a pastel pencil demonstration by our cover artist, Naomi Jenkin, winter landscapes in watercolour with Ian Sidaway, and advice from Paul Talbot-Greaves about the best choice of medium for your acrylic paintings. Portraits in oils, interiors in watercolour, and a detailed step-by-step demonstration by Barry Herniman using pencils, pens and paints from Derwent will keep you busy, and of course there is all the news from the art world, with exhibitions, books, art materials, webinars and courses to get involved with.
