The Searcher  |  February 2025
What’s new in this issue?
Our cover EXCLUSIVE was made by #TeamSearcher member Robert Turrell, in Nor-folk. The gold hammered coin is a nine-shilling piece called a demy and rarely found south of the border. Robert recounts its discovery and the history behind it. Other exclusives are a gold and garnet Anglo Saxon scabbard mount unearthed by Chris Matthews and some beautifully preserved Roman brooches and coins recovered by Wayne Gregory. Elsewhere within the covers is Bronze Age gold hair adornment and an Early Medieval chip and carved gilded mount, two Roman gold coins and an interesting Early Medieval gold coin pendant. David Villanueva researches meeting places and Ted Fletcher explains how to find market sites. Of course, there’s much more to inspire and inform within this edition.
