The Searcher  |  September 2022
What’s new in this issue?
Our cover story this month is yet another hoard found on a Metal Detectives dig. This time it’s a Bronze Age axe hoard found by Alan Wheeler and excavated professionally by Anni Byard and Oxford Archaeology. We also have the 2021 nominations for the Searcher’s Nations’ Greatest Finds competition. Nominations have been made from England, Wales, Scotland, Isle of Man, Flanders, Netherlands and first the first time ESTONIA! Nick Argent brings us up to date with his family’s finds including a special Anglo Saxon thrymsa, Andy Carter shares his last finds of the season including a wish list stater and Lesa Simons has a hat-trick of Saxon finds on the Isle of Wight! These are just a few of the highlights in this month’s magazine but of course, there’s much more to inspire and inform you between the covers.
