THE EVERLY BROTHERS
THE EVERLY BROTHERS SING GREAT COUNTRY
HITS WARNERS, 1963
I love when Don and Phil sing. For somebody my age, the Everly Brothers might be the first duets you hear. They were on the radio when I wasa child, and I think my mother might have played them too. There’s something soothing about their voices that makes me feel safe and calm. “Oh Lonesome Me”, “Please Help Me I’m Falling”, “Release Me”… In Glasgow, these were the songs you used to hear coming out of people’s windows. “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, “I Walk The Line”, “Born To Lose” – they made these songs their own even though they were made famous by other people.
