The new year always fills us with a renewed sense of purpose and gives us the kick to make changes to our lives that wev’e been promising ourselves for months we’d get round to. For many people, this change is increasingly becoming the promise to go vegan for January, thanks to Veganuary’s successful campaign.
After a record-breaking 2018, the charity is aiming for an impressive 300,000 people to take part in 2019… And they’re not stopping there! This year they’ve set their eyes on parliament and are calling on MPs to go vegan in a bid to make our leaders lead by example and show they’re serious about tackling climate change and animal welfare policies. Whilst the British public have been adopting vegan and vegetarian diets in droves (it’s estimated that there are now 3.5 million vegans in the UK), the government has done little to heed the advice of scientists who state that reducing meat and dairy consumption is vital in averting the devastating eff ects of climate change.
