Vintage Rock Magazine Aug/Sep 2023 Back Issue

For our latest issue, we travel to Little Richard’s hometown of Macon, Georgia, to uncover the Architect of Rock’n’Roll’s complex relationship with the city that banished him before later realising his genius.

Elsewhere, we meet Giles Martin who takes us inside his immersive reimagining of The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds album and catch up with Liverpool rockabilly trio Furious as they mark their 20th anniversary in the music business.

We also relive the rise of the teen idols who stormed the charts in the 50s and early 60s and talk to Donna Presley who reveals all to Vintage Rock about her years spent living at cousin Elvis’ Graceland mansion and Circle G ranch. There’s more Elvis action, too, as we grab our popcorn to take a deep dive into his finest big-screen role in King Creole.

We also have a how-to guide to starting your own rockin’ indie record label and celebrate the life of The Big Bopper, a giant personality who deserves to be seen as much more than a one-hit wonder.

Our classic album is Joe Turner’s second LP for Atlantic, Rock & Roll, and we also count down the Top 20 underrated singles from the Sun Records label.

There’s plenty of fresh talent, too, as we check out the David Lynchian noir of The Hey Las and Shetland Islands’ finest, The Isaac Webb Trio.

Very entertaining

Ideal magazine for those who have an interest in the history of rock Reviewed 12 April 2022

Superb mag for real music fans

Thought the cover feature on The Beach Boys was really interesting. Went back to the roots of the band rather than just the usual features you see about Pet Sounds and Smile etc that are in other music mags. Brilliant magazine for real music lovers. Reviewed 30 November 2016

Superb features on a wide range of artists

Love this mag!! Features lots of my favourite artists from the 50s and 60s as well as up-to-date acts, too. Covers lots of artists from rock'n'roll, rockabilly, vintage soul and R&B. A great read. Reviewed 30 November 2016
