Having more fat around the abdomen may increase the risk of heart attack in women, finds a new study, published in the Journal of The Heart Association.
Researchers from the University of Oxford, the University of New South Wales in Australia and Johns Hopkins University in the US, used data from people enrolled in the UK Biobank study, which asked nearly 500,000 adults about their health. They found women with a higher-than-average waist size had an increased risk of heart attack, compared with men with a higher-than-average waist size.
